Why Watch Actually

Having written a plethora of impressive productions, Anna Ziegler is known for her well-written plays such as her debut, Photograph 51 starring Nicole Kidman. Other plays that were masterfully penned by Ziegler include Boy, Another Way Home, A Delicate Ship, BFF, and The Last Match. Given Ziegler’s golden track record after winning several awards for all the aforementioned plays, the London premiere of Actually this August is guaranteed to be something worth looking forward to!

The Story

The play follows two Princeton freshmen, Amber and Tom who indulge in drunken revelry and a night together. They agree on drinking alcohol and acknowledge the evident attraction between the two, but consent still seems quite foggy. This eye-opening play delves deep into gender and race politics, thoroughly engrossing the audience in its thought-provoking narrative topped with lyricism and wit.

Critics Reviews

Ziegler’s script is electrifying, full of vibrant language and emotion that makes these characters as difficult, and at times irritating, as they are sympathetic.
