An Unexpected Turn

The movie tells the story of a couple on their first date and how the day turns out in the end, upending their regular life. In the beginning, it will seem to be a usual romantic drama where a boy meets a girl, falls for each other, and ultimately agrees on their first date. Just as they set out on their journey, the unprecedented turn of events leads them to one misfortune after another. Queen, played by Jodie Turner-Smith, is a criminal defence attorney. After a bad and long day, she decides she was not going to be alone for the night and was looking for a date on Tinder. But, to her dismay, her dinner date with Slim (played by Daniel Kaluuya) turned out to be rather disappointing and awkward. They were polar opposites. And it was pretty evident from the events that there was no chance for a second date. But, fate had some different plans for the unlikely duo. On their drive home, they were pulled over by a cop at a traffic light. But his behaviour appears a little extreme for such a minor traffic violation. Things escalate quickly from there as the cop turns out to be a trigger-happy racist. However, in the ensuing scuffle, he ends up being shot dead and the couple decides to flee the crime scene. But, no more spoilers! Get your Queen & Slim Drive In tickets to know what happened to them in the end.

Food For Thought

The movie, released back in 2019, is dubbed to be one of the most intriguing, thought-provoking, and poignant movies addressing the sensitive subject of race and racial tension in the most powerful manner. The Queen & Slim Drive In tickets is your chance to witness the feature directorial debut of Melina Matsoukas, starring Kaluuya and Turner-Smith. But, above all, it brings you a deep, exciting story of a road trip that changes the lives of the protagonists, Slim and Queen.
