Set in the attic of a recently passed matriarch of an African-American family, the musical traces the history of African-American women through its music – starting from the struggles in 1930s to empowerment in the 1990s, be prepared for quite the ride!

The Story

Sistas is an uplifting story of a multi-generational African-American family. The musical begins with the death of the family matriarch. As her three daughters, one daughter-in-law, and one granddaughter start cleaning out her attic they find a lifetime of memories. Told through the life and experiences of one woman and the women in her family, the story covers a range of topics from segregation, the women’s movement, to the meaning of love and empowerment.
