Ballet Revolución

Why You Should Watch Ballet Revolución

Ballet Revolución is returning to London after nearly six years. Their 2014 presentation was critically acclaimed and deemed to ‘deliver an endorphin high’ by The Guardian. Cuba is well-known for dance schools such as Escuela Nacional de Arte and Escuela Nacional de Ballet, and Ballet Revolución features some of the most accomplished performers from these prestigious institutes.

The Show

The show kicks off with a live band consisting of Cubans and British guest singers playing a well-known tune. Ballet Revolución moves from classical ballet to music-video choreography and contemporary dance. Acrobatics, body-popping, dancehall grinds, and body rolls are common sights during this section of the performance. The presentation is also punctuated by showbiz jazz dance routines that are a pleasure to watch. The pop music section features inventive dance routines set to popular tunes by Justin Timberlake, Enrique Iglesias, Adele, Justin Beiber, Coldplay, and a host of other wildly popular artists. The music finally takes a turn towards free-form Latin jazz as the sheer skill and charm of the dancers is brought to light. Ballet Revolución is a roughly 2-hour extravaganza of non-stop entertainment and top-notch dancing that you cannot miss this season!
