Your Experience

Marie Antoinette was the last queen to reign over France before the French Revolution took down the monarchy. Known for her extravagant tastes, she lived and died as the most notorious queen in French history.

The Marie Antoinette pass takes you through places where she left a trace. Start with a visit to Château de Rambouillet, built in the heart of a forest. Here, the Center des Monuments Nationaux offers a look into two unique eighteenth-century monuments, the Queen’s Dairy, created to amuse Marie Antoinette and the Shell Cottage, made from shells, marble chips, and mother-of-pearls. Next, you will head to the Conciergerie which houses the dungeon where the queen spent her final months during the Revolution, between her trial and death at the guillotine. You will then move on to the Expiatory Chapel which was built over the site of Maria Antoinette’s burial. Inside you’ll find a reproduction of her moving, last letter to the king’s sister. Lastly, discover the final resting place of Marie Antoinette among the kings and queens of France at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint-Denis.

The pass also includes access to an exhibition called “Marie-Antoinette: Metamorphoses of an Image,” created as an homage to the queen.
