For many of the 70s kids, John Travolta swaying his hair to the tune of disco was a life-changing event. The iconic musical Saturday Night Fever, based on the hit Travolta movie of the same name, made an equally powerful impact on the audience as soon as it came out. Released in 1998, the musical by Nan Knighton in collaboration with Paul Nicholas, Arlene Phillips, and Robert Stigwood became an instant phenomenon among the youth of the U.K. The songs of the musical, mostly from the movie and written, composed, and performed by the Bee Gees, went viral, as one might say today. And to date, they hold a special place in the history of West End musicals.

The story focuses on the life of Tony Manero, the Italian American boy who hails from downtown Brooklyn and spends most of his weekends at the local discotheques. The posh atmosphere of the place and the electrifying music helps him escape his harsh realities, which consists of a dead-end job and a gang of worthless friends. Things get even more complicated when Tony meets Stephanie Mangano, a beautiful girl way out of his league at the pub.
